Austra

I just got home from work, and this tweet was staring at me when I logged in.
I got curious, since Austra is a name I recognised from some fantasy novels I absolutely loved.
The Stereogum post lead me to This tumblr post by Disco Naïveté and I was enthralled. I had to find more of this band. So I searched, and loved it even more.

If you have Spotify, click here to check them out.
I especially want to recommend “Lose It” and “Identity”.

You can buy their music from Play.com, Domino records, One Big Silence. and iTunes. And probably some other stores too.

Carbon Based Lifeforms

I just discovered this band (band?) the other day, and I’m seriously impressed. Their newest album, Twentythree, was featured under “What’s New” in Spotify, and I loved it.
I think you should check them out.

Here’s one of my favourites on Twentythree:

And a track from Interloper:

Download their music on Bandcamp

If you’re an idiot and you don’t like Bandcamp, you can get it on Play.com and Amazon.com. They’re probably available in iTunes, too.

PS: You might be wondering why this post is tagged with #MusicFriday, when I’m posting it on a Sunday. Well, it’s a joke.

Mélanie Laurent – “En t’attendant”

Mélanie Laurent just popped up on the “What’s New” screen in my Spotify.
You may recognise her face, because she’s also an actress. Among other films, she starred in Inglorious Basterds. But that’s not why I’m writing about her.
I lovelovelove this album. Click here to listen in Spotify.

And here’s the music video for the title track:
